Halifax Police Find Missing Woman’s Car

The Halifax Regional Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are considering the disappearance of newly-pregnant Loretta Saunders of Halifax as suspicious after arresting a 25-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman in Saunders’ Toyota Celica car. The pair was arrested in Harrow, Ontario, on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and also for outstanding warrants.

The 26-year-old Saunders, originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, was last seen at her apartment in Halifax on February 13. Ironically, as an aspiring law student for the past three years at Saint Mary’s University, she had just finished writing a thesis on missing and murdered women.

Loretta’s brother, Edmund Saunders, said that Loretta telephoned him about three weeks ago to tell him she was pregnant and excited about the pregnancy. Her boyfriend told CTV News that they have been together for 2.5 years and that this is a nightmare. Edmund also said that his sister had been living with roommates, but it hadn’t been for long, and the family never met them.

Edmund further stated that Loretta wouldn’t go a day without calling their Dad, and it was very unusual for her not to be in touch with her loved ones.
