28-year-old Mutya Buena, formerly of the UK girl group the Sugababes, has admitted to getting butt implants inserted. Buena admits that she wanted her butt to be what she described as “perkier”. Really? At age 28 and with youth on her side, some would think diet and exercise might be a better alternative to a gluteal implant.

The before and after comparisons are stark with Buena now sporting a big protruding bottom. It may be that “perky” probably isn’t the most apt description of her post-plastic surgery bottom, but rather “bootylicious”.

Buena had previously done breast augmentation. She claims that she conducted research into the butt implant procedure and concluded that “everyone” in the United States and Brazil is doing it so why not her? She did not cite her sources in this broad conclusion. She admits that her family consider her daft for the procedure, but at least the enlarged buttocks give her better symmetry to balance out her enlarged E-cup breasts.

Buena says that her surgical enhancements are not a reflection of dissatisfaction with her body which would portend to insecurity about herself. Rather, it’s about change she says and she prefers extreme change. That statement seemingly contradicts her earlier claim of wanting her bottom to be merely a bit perkier.

Speaking about her bum implants, Mutya said: ‘I researched it a little while ago. Everyone’s got it in the US and Brazil. I just wanted it a bit perkier.

‘It’s not that there was anything wrong with it – it’s just a change. I like to be extreme.’
Asked what her friends and family thought about her extreme way of achieving the perfect behind, Mutya laughed: ‘They thought I was mad.’
