Trial of Mother for Heating Death of Sons Underway

Denver, Colorado – Heather Jensen’s life has spiraled out of control as the widowed mother of two children is now standing trial for the deaths of her sons back on November 27, 2012. The district attorney’s office has charged her with false reporting, child abuse resulting in death, and criminally negligent homicide stemming from the deaths of her two sons from heat exposure in her car. On that fateful day, Jensen, who lost her husband only six weeks prior in a car accident, arrived at a local snow park to hook up with a man and have sexual intercourse. While she was engaging in the tryst, she presumed to secure her children by locking them in her nearby car and keeping the heater running.

Upon her return from the tryst, the boys were dead from hyperthermia. Sometime between the 30th and 90th minute of their being in the car, temperatures rose to 60C or 140F. In the run up to the tragedy, Jensen was on probation stemming from her drug use. It didn’t help matters that she was violating the terms of her probation both for continued drug use and unauthorized travel. She is said to weep openly and audibly in court.
