Scottish B&B Owner Launches into “Basil Fawlty” Rant Over Poor Trip Advisor Rating

Perthshire, Scotland – The Bed & Breakfast called Craigs Hotel in this Central Scottish County is owned and operated by Alex Scrivenor who fancies himself as being like the iconic British hotel manager Basil Fawlty of the 1970s sitcom “Fawlty Towers”.

In fact, Scrivenor launched into a Basil Fawlty-like rant on the website Tripadvisor following an across the board 1-star rating given to him by a couple who spent their Valentine’s Day at the B&B along with friends from England.

At issue is the patrons were denied the room they had reserved because it was double booked. The same thing occurred with their English friends. Well, Scrivenor posted the reply that February 16 (the date of the review) would be marked as “Hatchet Day” in memory of their negative review. Now, it should be noted that in all fairness, Scrivenor has cause to be upset with the review. He stated the couple got inebriated and hurled insults at other patrons. They refused to pay their £400 bill, kicked a hole in the bedroom wall, and had to be removed by local police.

All this came after being offered a complementary bottle of wine for the double booking, a £15 discount from their bill, and a free stay in March. Police confirmed removing the couple and arresting the husband for vandalism.

Response: Mr Scrivenor hit back, accusing the guests of getting drunk, threatening other guests, damaging a wall, and failing to pay their £400 bill
