Jamie Dornan Now ’50 Shades of Grey’ Frontrunner?
On Thursday October 24th, writer of the bestselling series “Fifty Shades of Grey” E. L. James announced actor Jamie Dornan was cast as Christian Grey in the upcoming film by tweeting “Stow your twitchy palms ladies … our man is here. Welcome to #TeamFifty @JamieDornan1.” This came after the actor originally cast in the role, Charlie Hunnum, left the project earlier this month. While the studio has yet to announce anything official, the deal is said to be close to closing. This could not come at a better time, as production is scheduled to begin next month.
The series itself has notoriously devout fans. How will they react to the new co-star? Jamie Dornan is a better known actor in the UK than the US but fans of the series may know him from his modeling gigs with Armani, Dior, and Calvin Klein. He has also starred in the BBC thriller “The Fall”. American audiences may have become more familiar with him recently, as he plays the sheriff in “Once Upon A Time” on ABC.
Charlie Hunnum has been reported saying that he is “doing good” after dropping out. The original reaction to his being cast in the role of Grey had a lot of attention, not all positive. While there are rumors that this is why he left the project, Universal Studios’ official statement was that his schedule would not allow enough time to work on the movie.
