Japanese Woman Arrested: Rang Cops 15,000 times In Six Months
Japanese Woman Arrested for Phoning Police 15,000 Times
Osaka, Japan – Apparently, the police in this metropolitan city of 19 million people are in need of an award for the most long suffering public servants on the planet. They endured 15,000 phone calls from a single female over the past six months before finally getting tough with her.
Put another way, the woman phoned the police at least 83 times a day. If she is allowed an eight hour block of time to sleep, she phoned them five times an hour every day of the week. In practical terms, she rarely let go of her and virtually phone camped on their emergency line.
Now, it should be noted that at no time did she ever fabricate an emergency. Police officers said her calls were merely to discuss “nonsense”. They paid her no less than 60 visits requesting that she cease phoning them for frivolous matters. Put in other terms, she received visits from police officers every three days begging her to stop.
Finally, the officers had no choice but to cite for fraudulent obstruction of police business and take her into custody. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison and a fine of 500,000 yen (~$4,900). Ironically, there may be a chance she can beat the wrap since by the police’s own admission she never fabricated an emergency.
