Jennifer Lopez: “I Was Once Homeless”
Jennifer Lopez is a very successful performer who has enjoyed hit movies, records, singing tours, and clothing lines. Against the back drop of so much commercial success, she says that she was homeless for a period of time when she was 18 years old.
That is not to say she was a bag lady or pushing a run-down shopping cart down Brooklyn. Rather, she took to boarding at a dance studio where she was pursuing her dream.
It was her desire to pursue fame as a dancer that caused a row with her mother Guadalupe Rodriguez. Her mother was adamant that she attend college and build a career via higher education. Lopez wanted to dance and the arguments between the two led Lopez to part ways.
Lopez went on to say that commercial opportunities to dance came rather quick with one of them taking her to Europe and the latter brought her to Los Angeles as a “fly girl” for the show “In Living Color”.
Lopez has reconciled with her mother since that time. As for her commercial success, her net worth stands at a quarter billion dollars by some estimates.
Lopez may not have had success with text books and men, but she’s a savvy business woman.
