Jury in 4th Day of Deliberation in Loud Music Murder Trial

Jacksonville, Florida – Michael Dunn is facing some very serious charges stemming from a shooting rampage he launched into at a gas station in this metropolis of 1.3 million people back in November, 2012. At that time, he claimed his life was being threatened by a car carrying four black youths playing loud music. Initially, he asked them to turn down the volume and the matter escalated from there. By the time the incident was over, he had discharged ten rounds into the SUV killing 17-year-old Jordan Davis of Marietta, Georgia.

Dunn is charged with firing a deadly missile into an occupied car, three counts of attempted murder, and one count of first-degree murder. On day four of deliberations, the jury announced that they had reached verdicts on all but the murder charge. It is not looking very good for Dunn as in all likelihood, the jury did not accept his “stand your ground” defense. If convicted of the murder-related charges, he will face lengthy prison time.

On the other hand, the jury had asked for judicial guidance on the subject of self-defense and if it could be applied to any single count to which the judge affirmed it could. It is a high profile case much like the Zimmerman trial for the death of Trayvon Martin.
