There is a lot of garbage out there on the internet. Searches for people or things come up with a lot of spam, and a lot of viruses. Actress, actor, and singer searches are a great place for viruses to be hiding.
With that being said, Lily Collins is the “most dangerous” person on the internet. No, Lily Collins is not out there attempting to plant viruses in your computer, but she is the most dangerous internet search on the web. According to collected data, typing in her name has a 14.5% chance of getting results that have viruses or spyware. This is very interesting as you would expect it to be someone like Britney Spears of Kim Kardashian who would top the list. Britney Spears does come in the top 10 at least.
“Today’s consumers often are completely unaware of security risks when searching for celebrity and entertainment news, images and videos online, sacrificing safety for immediacy,” said Paula Greve, director of web security research at McAfee. “Cybercriminals prey on consumers’ addiction to breaking news and leverage this behavior to lead them to unsafe sites that can severely infect their computers and devices and steal personal data.”
Other stars who are in the top ten for most dangerous searches include: Sandra Bullock, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Emma Roberts. The only male in the top 10 is actor Jon Hamm.
This is something to think about next time you are searching for famous individuals on the internet. A good percentage of the links that you may want to click on could lead your computer on a trip to needing repairs.
The top 10 celebrities from this year’s study with the highest percentages of risk are:

McAfee’s Most Dangerous Celebrity list, now in its seventh year, comes, with the obligatory (and helpful!) warnings and tips on how to protect yourself while cybersurfing:
- Be suspicious – If a search turns up a link to free content or too-good-to-be-true offers.
- Be extra cautious when searching on hot topics – Cybercriminals set up fake and malicious sites that dominate these time-sensitive search results.
- Check the Web address – Look for misspellings or other clues that the link might be directed to a phony website.
