Friday’s Lotto Max Number Turns Up No Winner
The special Canadian lottery known as “Lotto Max” winning numbers were selected yesterday as 40, 35, 34, 33, 28, 26, 10 and the bonus number of 12. However, no one picked the winning numbers or any of the two $1 million bonus picks. Participants in the lottery pay $5 to buy in to the lottery where participants select seven numbers from a pool of 49 numbers.

The lottery prize starts at $10 million and increases for each draw that has no winner. The cap is $50 million and this latest failure to produce a winner will keep the lottery at the maximum payout.

It should be noted that even though the cap remains at $50 million, $1 million prizes called “Maxmillions” are paid out with only three winning numbers. For the next drawing on Saturday, October 26, there will be ten “maxmillion” prizes up for grabs.

Also, the Lotto Max operates the same as all other Canadian lotteries in that a lump sum payout is made to the winner’s tax free. In Canada, lottery payouts are not decomposable meaning they cannot be made in installments or periodic payments. Lotteries in the United States afford winners a choice between lump sum payments or annuity payouts.
