Meryl Streep May Be Cast as Susan Boyle in Upcoming Biopic

Updated

Susan Boyle, the portly singer from Blackburn, Scotland, will be the subject of an upcoming biopic film telling her life’s story. It has now been rumored that academy award winning actress Meryl Streep may take on the role as the mezzo-soprano singer who made a grand entry into the entertainment world back in 2009.

Fans may recall how Boyle appeared on the stage of “Britain’s Got Talent” hosted by Simon Cowell. The scowl on his face said it all. There was no expectation that Boyle would be anything more than a pleasant distraction which the judge would then savage for a lack of talent. However, prior to her musical number completing, the audience was on its feet with a standing ovation.

As for the film’s casting, Streep has not been confirmed whether she has accepted. Mrs. Boyle certainly hopes she does. It would be flattering to have the venerable character actress portray her. When Boyle was asked if she herself would like to appear in the film, she declined stating that she would prefer someone portray her instead. It isn’t clear if Streep would have to put on weight should she accept the role. Fox Studies will be producing the film.
