Meteorite hits Florida Boy, Walks Away With A Few Stitches
Scientist have long theorized that the odds of you being hit by a meteorite within your lifetime are extremely low at best. Scientist suggest that you have a better chance of flipping a coin and having it land on heads 44 times consistently in a row than being hit by a meteorite. One unfortunate young Florida boy though, was actually hit by a meteoroite, while playing in his parents Driveway.
Lippard, son of the victim that was hit by the meteorite. Told reporters that his 7 year old son came to him, holding his forehead as it was bleeding. Lippard was not aware of what might of caused his son’s injuries, but pondered if it was a stray golf ball or maybe even an accidental self inflicted wound, because his son has autism spectrum disorder. But upon analyzing the area, Lippard found 5 small rocks withing a 3 foot diameter that he believes to be meteorites because of the odd texture of the rocks.
He believes that the meteorite grazed his son’s head and smashed into the ground as to the reason why his son is still alive. He has since kept the small items. He says he plans to verify if they really are meteorites and intends to keep them. If these really are meteorites though, this will make his son the second person in modern history that has been documented of being hit by a meteorite, currently only one person in modern history, as per to the Discovery Magazine, has been known to be hit by a meteorite.
The thought of being hit by a meteorite and surviving to tell the tale at such a young age must be tantalizing, with the luck this kid has, I would definitely have him pick my lottery numbers.
