Michael Moore Ends 21 Year Marriage

On June 17th, after 21 years of marriage film director Michael Moore filed for divorce from his wife, Kathleen Glynn. In addition to Moore and Glynn being married 21 years the couple has also worked together on some of Moore’s films, like “Bowling for Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 911”.

Michael Moore has stated that he and his wife no longer live together, that their marriage has broken down, and that it is unlikely the marriage can be “preserved”. In addition to filing for divorce, Moore is seeking to temporarily freeze his and Glynn’s assets. Moore has hired Joseph Aviv and Jason R. Abel of the Bloomfield Hills law firm of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz and Cohn as representation for divorce. His wife has no attorney on record, as of now.

With an estimated net worth of $50 million the divorce settlement is sure to fall in the millions of dollars department. Moore’s possibly hypocritical commentary on the wealth divide and his criticism of the financial inequality may take center stage as details of his personal wealth and assets become more public as proceedings continue. At any rate, it’s sad to see such a lengthy union fall apart after more than two decades.
