An explosion rocked the airwaves in Canada, above Montreal, yesterday and the sound was reportedly heard as far reaching as Plattsburgh, New York. The internet was buzzing with excitement over this mysterious sound. Police officers were sent to range the countryside to try and find the source of the noise but nothing concrete was found.

The booming sound, which was accompanied by a flashing light, was said to rattle the windows in houses all over. Many of the people that experienced the explosion and trembling were left in confusion, some making jokes about the origin, and some worried that a bomb had gone off.

However it has come to light that the explosion was probably just a meteor entering Earths atmosphere. Scientists say that meteors of the size necessary to make such a noise and explosion collide with Earth once every three years or so. Meteors travel at close to 60,000 kilometers per hour and, at the size of a small car, can cause a sonic boom due to their high speed.

Scientists have claimed that, due to the Earth becoming more and more populated, previously unknown meteor strikes will start to be reported with more and more frequency.
