Family Lost in Snowy Nevada Mountains Found Alive

Emergency crews spent 48 hours searching for a missing couple and their four children after they failed to return from a trip into the Nevada Mountains in order to enjoy the new fallen snow. The local county sheriff in charge of the search operation called the discovery of the family, still alive despite sub-zero weather, nothing less than a miracle. Christina McIntee and her 34-year old boyfriend, James Glanton, along with their two children and a niece and nephew accompanying the family on the day trip, were found alive and unharmed in a mountainous region without cellphone reception about 100 miles from Reno.

Their Jeep had rolled off the roadway, stranding the group of six on the mountain in sub-freezing temperatures. Since the couple had only planned to be gone for a few hours, they didn’t not stock their vehicle with any water, food or emergency supplies. They scavaged the woods to find brush and kindling, were able to light a fire, and then used the Jeep’s spare tire as fuel in order to heat a variety of rocks to stay warm. U.S. Civil Air Patrol joined in the search when the family was reported missing earlier this week.
