parasailing accident leaves two teens injured in Florida

Improving: Sidney Good (left) has been able to communicate with hand gestures, while Alexis Fairchild (right) has been able to walk as far as her friend’s hospital room
Best friends forever Sidney Good and Alexis Fairchild hail from Huntington, Indiana, and were on vacation at Panama City, Florida. The two went on a parasailing adventure that was supposed to be a thrill of a lifetime for the two young adult females.
It turned out to be an extremely dangerous ride that may leave both women suffering physical injuries for life, reports the Daily Mail.
During the trip, the parasailing line holding them to the speed boat gave way releasing the two young women aimlessly into the air in what amounted to as a glider with no steering control.
Bystanders reported that the two girls were frantically screaming for dear life as their parasail drifted into the air towards a 13-floor hotel.
Finally, their parasail collided against a balcony on the top level, drifted against a power line, and dropped the girls atop a parked car. Both suffer severe injuries.
Fairchild suffered serious neck trauma, but has surprised doctors by being able to walk. Her friend Good underwent spinal surgery. Good was reported to have given her family a “thumbs up” following the surgery. Good took a visit from her friend that day. Let’s hope the two make a full recovery and live many years to tell the harrowing tale.
The families said the girls are doing better.
“Our daughters, Sidney Good and Alexis Fairchild, are still at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida, recovering from a parasailing accident on July 1; however we have seen more progress from yesterday,” the families said in a joint statement released on July 4.
“Alexis was able to walk today with a walker and the assistance of a physical therapist and she walked into Sidney’s room to visit. Sidney is still in critical condition, but we are seeing small signs of progress. She is able to open one of her eyes and communicate to us with nods and gestures,” the statement continued.
An attorney for Aquatic Adventures did not return a phone call for comment.
