Embattled Chef Paula Deen Loses Wal-Mart Deal

It may be the very epitome of a warning given by Biblical prophet Isaiah when he spoke of those who “make a man an offender for a word”, but embattled southern chef Paula Deen’s collapse continues in the aftermath of her use of the N-word.

Roughly a fortnight ago, Paula Deen was at the top of her game with a lucrative show on the Food Network heading for a contract renewal, a line of cookware on sale at the world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart, book deals, etc.

Now, her star power is deeply diminished after she revealed past use of the N-word. Fear of public backlash related to the notorious word has caused Wal-Mart to drop her product line from its inventory. They will fulfill existing orders and sell the inventory, but the retail giant will no longer make new orders. The Food Network has announced it will not renew her contract. Smithfield Foods announced it will not sell her brand of pork products.

Even Caesar’s Entertainment will drop their four Deen-themed restaurants from their casinos.

Paula Deen has made passionate apologies, but the stigma associated with a white person using the racial epithet is an offence which appears too great to overcome in a politically correct world.
