Photographer Kate Barry Dead After Suicide Leap

Kate Barry, a British photographer and the daughter of singer Jane Berkin and composer John Barry, was found dead after she either fell or jumped from the fourth floor of her apartment building in Paris.

Barry’s death has been ruled a suicide and officials indicate that a supply of anti-depressant medications had been found in her apartment. Her body was discovered earlier this week. She was 46 and is survived by a 26-year old son and her 66-year old mother.

Kate Barry already demonstrated addiction problems while a teenager and went into treatment for alcohol and drug abuse at the age of 17. She was also involved with the organization Alcoholics Anonymous and was responsible for establishing an addiction center in Paris around 2003. She achieved recognition as a photographer whose work appeared in such high-profile fashion publications as Elle and Vogue.

Mom Jane Berkin and father John Barry separated soon after Kate was born in the late 60s.

Police officials have sealed off Barry’s apartment while they complete their investigation into her death. There is no word if she left any final message or suicide note, but unnamed sources say that in all likelihood her fall was an intentional suicide.
