Randy Travis Makes First Public Appearance Since Suffering Stroke

Country legend Randy Travis recently showed up to a charity concert this past Friday in Dallas, Texas. The nontraditional country singer from Marshville, North Carolina, made his big entry into popular music in the mid-1980s with the album “Storms of Life” which accounts for 4 million of the more than 25 million records he has sold to date. Travis represented the traditional country singer that began fading in the new Country Music era ushered in by Garth Brooks.

Travis was put on life support this past July for what doctors termed was an idiopathic cardiomyopathy which caused him to suffer a stroke. During the 48 hours he was on life support he underwent successful neurosurgery, but a result of the operation was him having to relearn to both walk and talk. That is a difficult task for anyone to face, but if his recent appearance is any indication, he is on the mend.

Travis showed up to the event accompanied by long-time friend Neal McCoy who performed at the charity event. McCoy tweeted a picture of him standing beside Travis who was all smiles. McCoy added that it was Randy’s first time wearing cowboy boots since undergoing physical rehabilitation.
