Rashida Jones Slams Fellow Stars
Comedian Weighs In On the Growing Trend Toward Actresses and Musicians Increasing Nudity
Rashida Jones, best known for her role on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, has taken to Twitter to speak out against what she sees as a disturbing, growing trend among many female actresses (e.g., Miley Cyrus and Nicki Manaj) on television, music videos and various social media sites. Afraid to mince words on the subject, Jones tweeted, “This week’s celeb news takeaway: she who comes closest to showing the actual inside of her vagina is most popular #stopactinglikewhores.”
As an actress and a woman, Jones understands the need to want to be alluring, provocative and make a name for yourself in the media, but feels that certain unnamed celebrities are taking this too far. Millions of young women watch these public figures every day and mimic their every move. Jones feels that it’s important to convey a message that it is possible to be considered beautiful and sexy without taking all of your clothes off. She steadfastly believes that the latest trend of nude/semi nude actresses and musicians should not become the accepted norm in Hollywood. These public figures should strive to display a more realistic and attainable image for impressionable viewers.
Never one to be completely serious, Jones posted a follow-up tweet saying, “Also, calling on all men to show me dat ass” to lighten the mood.
