recall: Hatchette books with metal rod holding small beads can detach

Updated

 on

The books were designed to be engaging for young children with cut out shapes and arched handles for youngsters to easily carry. Thy also featured beads which children could play with and which were securely fastened to the book via a metal rod. However, the rods were not quite as secure as originally thought which allows for them to detach and drop the beads. In the wrong hands, such as those of a young child, those beads can be swallowed and choked on.

So as a precautiron, Hatchette Books Group has issued a recall for them. The books are “Count my Kisses, 1, 2, 3″ and “Red, Green, Blue, I Love You”. The ISBN number for each book are 978-0-316-13354-8 and 978-0-316-13353-1 respectively. Each book used small wooden beads with printed designs or colors. The books were sold this year at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble from the period starting in May and ending in June. They retailed for $8. Hatchette Books Group request that the books be taken away from children immediately and returned to the retailer for a full refund. Any questions can be directed to them at (888) 965-5802 between the hours of 8:00AM – 5:00PM ET M-F.
