Florida Restaurant Owner Lays Off Staff Via Text Message

As citizens of the world become more and more reliant on social media and other forms of electronic communication, the actual spoken word has been devalued.

There are countless stories of relationships ending, bad news being broken, motivational speeeches, and even a loved one’s last words all through some form of non verbal communication.

A new sad example was displayed just this week in the resort town of Winter Park, Floria; which is just outside of Orlando. The owner of an Italian restaurant named “Barducci’s” had run into some financial trouble and the employees of the dinner spot had become increasingly worried about their job security. George Kennedy, the owner of the restaurant, had reassured the workers that they had nothing to worry about.

Then earlier this week all of the employees of the eatery recieved a curious text message that some may have thought was a joke. The electronic note read that he was forced to close Barducci’s effective immediatley. Upset enough over the fact that they became unemployed via a text message, the laid off workers were further irritated that they still have not yet gotten their final paychecks.

The members of the local media attempted to contact Kennedy and he failed to answer the phone or return calls. However, he did respond to a text message to let everyone know that he was still planning to make the final payroll as soon as possible. Whatever happened to the old fashioned pink slip?
