Richard Branson’s health club fined after death

In 2011, former model Elsa Carneau was found dead, lying face down in a swimming pool. The pool was a facility of billionaire Sir Richard Branson’s health club in West London. The circumstances of the woman’s death are rather unclear, and her family seeks the truth. On Friday, Branson’s company, Virgin active was fined a sum for what the judge saw as a preventable circumstance.

The club did not have anybody attending the pool at the time of the former model’s death. Paperwork at the club had been forged by staff, stating they were attentive, when in fact, nobody was present. The staff should have been checking the pool every thirty minutes, and their failure to do so, resulted in the fine for Virgin Active.

The parents of Carneau are seemingly uninterested in the fine and see this as the beginning, of finding out what truly happened to their daughter. Pierre Carneau, Elsa’s father tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “We are interested only in one thing- to try and understand exactly what happened, there are still a number of questions. This is the beginning of an explanation. We hope a number of other important things will be addressed in due course.”
