Rick Gervais named PETA “Person of the Year”

PETA has named Rick Gervais as their “Person of the Year”. The group says that Gervais is the most influential person in social media when it comes to sharing JustGiving pages. The creator of the hit series, “The Office”, also believes that animals are equal to humans, and that they are not here for humans to do with as we please.

Gervais offers his opinion with people who he thinks steps over the line of animal rights. He disapproves of hunting, eating or wearing animals, and tells anyone within earshot about how he feels about it. He is also against activities like bullfighting. PETA says that Mr. Gervais’ reach goes far beyond using social media to spread his views. They say that his words spread throughout all types of media.

Aside from “The Office”, Gervais also created shows like “Extra”, and he has a children’s book as well. The book is titled “Flanimals”, which is about nonsense animals. He also invites his Twitter followers to glimpse into his life, and shared photos of his family on Christmas day; however, he is vocal about being an atheist. Followers will find a great deal of personal opinions from the “Person of the Year”, as well.
