Willie Nelson loves pot. That is not news to anyone familiar with the music style of the great “Country Outlaw”.

The country western singer of such hits as “One the Road Again” and “Bloody Mary Morning” and writer of many more hits for stars such as Glen Campbell, Roy Orbison, and Patsy Cline has affinity for marijuana and he hasn’t been afraid to speak out publicly about it. The one drawback of Willie using his free speech to echo what he feels are the benefits of the narcotic is that it puts a target on his back from law enforcement.

The ratio of weed smoked compared to actual arrests is actually a surprisingly low percentage. Over a 40 year span the country music legend has been arrested only four times for possession of pot. He was first locked up for a drug offense way back in 1974 and the most publicized of the incidents took place on Nelson’s 80th birthday in 2010. His tour bus was pulled over and police noticed that “unusual odor” coming from the bus.

Despite his run-ins with law enforcement, Willie Nelson stands firm in his support for the legalization of marijuana. He insists that it is obvious that the positives far outweigh the negatives when all is considered and in one famous quote said that the only way pot would hurt you is if a bale of it were to fall on your head.
