Sarah Jessica Parker recently received a tweet from a woman who might be described as anything but a fan. The tweet questioned whether Parker’s children, who were carried by a surrogate, were really her children. Parker replied to the woman’s post, calling her out for being mean. Among other things, she told the woman that she should be ashamed of herself.
She went on to say that she did not understand why women go out of their way to be mean to other women. Parker makes it a point not to flaunt her success and her money. She is married to Matthew Broderick and does not believe the woman would have made that comment to him. Scrolling the social media sites with only one eye open is how she describes her social media experience because people are so mean.
The woman who left the post anonymously removed it soon after Parker responded to the comments. It is not the first nasty comment that someone has left for a celebrity and likely will not be the last. Parker said she does not understand how someone could hate her and use words to cut her when they have never even met.
Social media is a way for fans and artists to correspond with each other even though they never met. Some people take that privilege for granted and use it for cruelty. Minnie Driver has also had issues with people who have a mean streak on Twitter. So much so, in fact, that she decided to take a break from social media in order to get away from it. Some celebrities do not engage in social media at all and others hire someone to update their pages for them. The fact is, social media is a part of everyday life for many people and some of those people are going to be mean.
