Nick Nolte Has Arrest Record for Sales of Bogus Draft Cards

When actor Nick Nolte was just getting started in the acting profession, it seemed that film and movie roles weren’t paying the bills. So he decided to earn a few extra bucks by peddling phony draft cards in 1961.

The then 20-year old Nolte, who was living in his native Nebraska at the time, was arrested for counterfeiting, and given a whopping 45-year prison sentence. Luckily for Nolte and his future film career, the judge suspended that sentence, replacing it with a 5-year suspended sentence instead.

With his bad boy reputation firmly in place and his first arrest and conviction under his belt, Nolte has gone onto an acting career that has included a sundry assortment of troubled and eccentric characters. His drinking and drug use had become so out of hand by the 1980s, that co-star Katherine Hepburn publicly berated him for always being drunk.

By 2002, Nolte had to pose for another mug shot, this time in Malibu, California when he was pulled over by a police officer for driving under the influence. His legal troubles didn’t end there. The parents of a girl allegedly raped at his home under the influence of GHB sued him for negligence.
