Tippi Hedren Gets Damages from Bird-Caused Accident

Actress Tippi Hedren has thrilled audiences for decades for her role in the Alfred Hitchcock thriller “The Birds”. Now, she has been awarded $1.5 million (~£922,000) in damages stemming from a freak accident where a gallon of water fell onto her head during the filming of the TV show “Fashion House”.

The incident occurred back in 2006. The gallon of water is believed to have been caused by an avian nest. Regardless, one gallon of water fell onto her at a speed of 25 mph. The result was that crippling headaches she had endured earlier in her life returned. In her court filing, she put forth the theory that plywood roof over the sound stage was weighed down by a birds nest and eventually gave way.

The crippling headaches first began in the 1990s when she was in her mid-60s. A spinal fusion on her neck’s vertebrae using a titanium plate cured her of the headaches. However, the water accident has brought their return. Hedren is now 83 years old. Part of the award will go towards future medical treatment. She will require an invasive procedure known as a rhizotomy in order to alleviate the pain.
