Tourist chased by hundreds of rabbits in hare raising experience
?kunoshima Island, Japan – This small island was once ground zero for a stealth poison gas operation of the Japanese Imperial Army during WWII. Since that time, it has transformed into what is colloquially called “Rabbit Island” because of the huge rabbit population. Now, a female tourist captured a video of her being followed by scores of hungry rabbits looking for handouts.
It is believed that as early as 1971, rabbits were introduced on the island and began their stereotypical population explosion. Some say the rabbits were introduced by the government as a sort of cave canary to gauge the lingering effects from the poison gas production done decades prior. As many as six different types of poison gas were developed at the island for deployment in their Chinese military campaign.
The female tourist gave the rabbits some food at which time the rabbits came from far to surround her. As she departed, they followed her. She snapped up pictures of them chasing her and it was a delightful scene of bucks, does, and kits following the woman in the hopes of getting more food. As one might expect, the video of the incident has gone viral.
