Brothers Kidnapped by Dad May be On Sailboat

Two young brothers kidnapped by their estranged father from their grandmother’s residence in the Tampa, Florida area may have been brought aboard his sailboat in an attempt to evade capture.

34-year old Joshua Hakken forcibly took his two sons, 2-year old Cole and 4-year old Chase, from his mother-in-law’s home after restraining her with rope. Law enforcement officials in southern Florida believe that Hakken and his wife may have taken the abducted brothers aboard a 1972 Morgan sailboat that features the name “Salty” on each side of its hull.

The United States Coast Guard has released a full description of the blue and white sailing vessel to the public, along with its exact registration number in the hopes of getting a lead as to its whereabouts.

Coast Guard helicopters and boats were put into action in the official search, travelling to search the coastal waters between Mobile, Alabama and Key West, FL in hopes of finding the couple and their two sons.

One witness has already said that they sighted a boat matching the police description just a few hours after the children were abducted. Hakken is said to have made the boat purchase very recently, but the couple’s ultimate destination is unknown.
