Tyra Banks’ fear of dolphins

Updated

 on

Tyra Banks, the internationally known supermodel and talk-show host, has done some remarkable things in her lifetime; she was the first African-American woman to appear on the cover of popular magazines such as GQ, Victoria’s Secret catalogue and Sports Illustrated, as well as walking the catwalk in numerous fashion shows. There is no question that the girl out of Inglewood, California has made her mark on the world. And while she is known for many things, perhaps one of the most bizarre factoids comes in a phobia of Tyra’s.

Tyra Banks has had a fear of dolphins since she was a little girl. It isn’t whales, big sharks or other terrifying sea creatures, but dolphins that terrify Tyra. And while she grew up living near the ocean, she never could quite feel comfortable with the thought of swimming with dolphins as a youngster. She once told People Magazine,”I’ve been afraid of [dolphins] ever since I was 8 or 9. I have dreams that I am in a pool and there are dolphins bumping me and I’m frightened.”

And while there certainly can be more unfortunate things lurking with you in a pool, Tyra Banks prefers something other than dolphins.
