Valeria Lukyanova is without question a beautiful woman with an uncanny resemblance to the iconic Mattel Barbie Doll. It is likely by design and she may have had some surgical help to arrive at her appearance. Regardless, the side by side image of her next to a Barbie doll shows that she definitely owns the right to the title of “real life Barbie doll”.

Now, the 23-year-old Ukrainian model has announced that she is transitioning to a “Breatharianism” lifestyle which calls for subsisting exclusively off of light and air. Now, this announcement may beg the obvious questions as to the oxygen content of her cranium in relation to her hair color and intellect.

The fine folks at Wikipedia describe breatharianism as:

Inedia (Latin: “fasting”) or breatharianism is the alleged ability to live without food. Breatharians claim that food and possibly water are not necessary, and that humans can be sustained solely by prana (the vital life force in Hinduism), or, according to some, by the energy in sunlight (according to Ayurveda, sunlight is one of the main sources of prana). The terms breatharianism or inedia may also refer to this philosophy practiced as a lifestyle in place of the usual diet.

Those individuals who ascribe to this dietary standard believe in the existence of micro-food which is in the atmosphere and light and which can be lived off of exclusively. There is some merit to the supposition as exposure to direct unfiltered sunlight is a valuable means of obtaining Vitamin K though the skin. However, it is unclear whether the same holds true for the other essential vitamins, proteins, fatty acids, and water that is also required to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Regardless, some people claim to have lived as Breatharians for years. There was also a recent case of an elderly woman perishing as a result of the diet. Thus far, no one practicing Breatharianism has allowed themselves to be physically examined in order to validate their nutritional claims. It may be that Ms. Lukyanova sees this latest dietary change as a natural progression in her fascination with light.

She already claims to be able to travel through time using light. It is also the medium through which she communicates with aliens and has out of body experiences.

Hopefully, this young beauty will not suffer any health issues related to this extreme starvation diet.
