Woman Stealing from Grave Site Turns Herself In

Ontario, Ohio – It has been six years since the Scott and Jaclyn Sheridan lost their precious 14-month old child Hayden “Tank” Cole Sheridan.

The memory of that loss is vivid and they retain the baby in remembrance by regularly visiting his grave site and leaving expressions of their devotion. They’ve left toys, flowers, and other articles. It has also been six years that someone has been stealing from the grave site. The Sheridans report that things such as wreaths, toys, and solar powered lights have been removed. They haven’t known who is behind the thefts or if it more than one person involved.

Eventually, Ontario police placed a surveillance camera at Mansfield Memorial Park to capture any thefts and they were able to record toys and other items being removed.

However, the camera quality was so poor as to prevent identification of the suspects. The only thing the camera was good for was to prove that people were stealing objects from the grave site, but the Sheridans already knew that.

In other words, the surveillance camera was good for nothing.

The final straw for the Sheridans came when they left a large plush ducky at the grave site the day before Easter and upon their return the following morning, it had disappeared. In their own words, they feel that they are being exploited by thieves who know they are leaving gifts at the grave site. The camera was able to record the incident with pretty good quality this time around and the video was posted on the internet where it went viral.

Ontario police detective Jon Sigler said the video on their Facebook page reached more than 2 million users in 48 hours.

The perp has turned herself in to police. Her name is Frida Shade. She says she took the plushie to keep a dog from running off with it.

The Sheridans reject that explanation and a neighbor of Shade claims the woman is strange.

“I’m glad we got her,” Sheridan said. “I think the only reason she turned herself in is because it was everywhere. I think there’s no more hiding from it. I think if she could have, she would have kept hiding from it.”
