Woman Seeks Legal Name Change to Sexy

Pataskala, Ohio – Sheila Ranea Crabtree is a single mother of two sons who has ever loathed her given name. Her own children will attest that using her given name will result in a grounding because she hates the very utterance of it. Her workaround has been to go by her middle name. It’s a pretty common practice done by many people. Even former GOP nominee Mitt Romney does it. He does not go by his given name of Willard.

However, Mrs. Crabtree is aiming to persuade a local judge to authorize her to change her name to the erotic adjective “sexy”. Why would she choose that as her name? She says because she always wears Victoria’s Secret clothing, it makes sense that she should be named the way she dresses. Admittedly, Mrs. Crabtree is no Victoria’s Secret Angel, but it will all come down to what the Franklin County judge disposes.

“I do wear a lot of Victoria’s Secret clothes and my husband calls me sexy all the time,” Crabtree told Fox19.com. “I really want to do Sexy because it’s kinda’ like my personality. I just love to be adventurous, have fun and do all kinds of things.”

Did we mention she really hates her birth name?

“It’s just one of those names that I can’t stand. I hate the fact that I have been cursed with it,” she told the station. “My mom gave me my middle name of Ranea and my dad gave me my ugly name.”

One man was able to change his name from Clyde to Genghis. However, Mrs. Crabtree is prepared with a plan B. If the judge denies her request for the name of “Sexy”, she will request he allow her name to become “Sparkle”. It is curious how sometimes adults pick names for themselves that would have made them a target of ridicule in grade school.
