Adele Weight Will Only Be An Issue If It Affects Her Sex Life
British singer Adele proudly wears her plus sized figure of size 14-16.
The Tottenham native is often criticized for her weight by media that expects celebrities to sport Taylor Swift size petite figures.
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, as she’s known to friends, is not deterred one bit. The singer enjoys life and a rich diet of delicious foods.
She said she would not even consider losing the weight unless it adversely affected her health or sex life (as if we REALLY needed to know the latter).
“I read a comment on YouTube that I thought would upset me ‘Test pilot for pies’ — but I’ve always been a size 14-16 and been fine with it. I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesn’t,” she told author Chas Newkey-Burden.
Adele says that currently, her weight has not had any such adverse affect in her life. Earlier this year he weight gained notoriety when a prominent fashion designer called her “fat”.
Her response was graceful and merely said, “I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.” She says fixation on weight has ruined the lives of people and she is determined to avoid that trap.
Back in February of last year, Karl Lagerfeld got a bit of press attention when he ragged on Adele’s appearance in comments from which he rapidly backpedaled.
Lagerfeld himself is a “former person of size,” and like many who struggle with body image after having lost weight, tends to excoriate overweight people with frequency and bitterness.
At the time, Lagerfeld is said to have remarked of Adele in general:
“I prefer Adele and Florence Welch [to Lana Del Rey]. But as a modern singer, she is not bad. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”
Lagerfeld later clarified, claiming his statement (to which he then presumably admitted) was “out of context.” Not inaccurate or misquoted, simply just taken out of its larger setting:
“I’d like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought. Adele is my favorite singer and I am a great admirer of her. I lost over 30 kilos over 10 years ago and have kept it off. I know how it feels when the press is mean to you in regards to your appearance.”
