U.S. Airline Spirit Announces New Fees For Carry-On Bags

Low-cost US airline Spirit announced on Tuesday that it will begin to charge passengers a fee for certain carry-on bags. The announcement brought immediate condemnation from several Democratic senators. The airline would charge up to $45 dollars for each carry-on bag a passenger had to store in the overhead compartment. FAA Fines Continental For 2008 Maintenance Lapse

The FAA on Thursday fined Continental Airlines the sum of $325,000 for a maintenance lapse on one of its 737′s back in 2008. The 737 in question was flown on at least 12 flights with a landing gear problem. Sixty Hurt on Carnival Cruise to Mexico

Sixty passengers and one crew member were injured when Carnival Cruise Liner, Ecstasy, was forced to make a sharp turn off the coast of Mexico to avoid collision with a partially submerged buoy.
