Female Clerk Foils Gun Robbery with a Machete

Brentwood, New York – in what could have easily turned into a tragedy, Elena Alvarado foiled a robbery at gun point at the Stop & Shop Deli she owns and operates on Crooked Hill Road. On September 25, surveillance footage showed an unidentified man wearing a face mask entered her deli and demanded she stuff her cash register contents into a black bag.

Apparently, Alvarado’s defiance did not sit well with the perp who then fired a round into the wall to let her know he was serious. It was at that time the indomitable entrepreneur also showed him she wasn’t fooling around when she whipped out a machete from under the counter and went postal on him. This surprised the man who fled the store with empty bag in hand.

Alvarado’s store has been burglarized twelve times recently and she may just have been fed up. One co-worker stated that he believed the gun wasn’t real that was until the perp fired it. For her part, Alvarado is fearful that the robberies will continue. For now, she’s taking some time off from work to dodge the deluge of media attention her heroics are attracting. However, not everyone at the store believes it was wise to have defied the armed robber.
