Actor’s Anti-Thanksgiving Message: video

Updated

 on

A well-known British actor Gary Oldman (Batman trilogy) gives a tirade on a US talk show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Mr Oldman dressed as an English gentleman, thick rimmed specs and handlebar moustache to boot, is surrounded by Thanksgiving festive trappings. The Englishman begins his childish abuse with, “You are hurting our feelings.” The reference is actually to American Independence and has nothing to do with the Thanksgiving celebration.

Mr Oldman is visibly upset as he continues to pour scorn on what he believes is American treason in its fight against British colonial rule. It seems the actor’s temper finally gets the better of him, and he begins to pummel the food in front of him with his fists. A whole roast turkey finds new wings as it flies across the room and smashes against a wall.

Amerircan audiences will watch aghast as the US’s closest ally hurls insults on a national holiday. That shock quickly dissipates with a tender smile as the penny drops that far from being an abuse, this is English humor parading itself at its best.

“This year as you consume your annual feast of Thanksgiving consider this, you’re hurting our feelings.

“Not only did you flee our country to avoid paying taxes you now pay so willingly, you rub our faces in it with a big fat food orgy.
He added: “But guess what? We’re glad you’re not British anymore … so f**k off.”

The scene ends with a Mr Oldman fighting for composure as he ends his rant with, “God save the queen.”
