Former Smiths Frontman Morrissey Rants Against President Obama in Thankskilling Accusation

President Obama has taken a fall in the approval ratings following the disastrous launch of his federal health care exchange website this past October. In fact, the president has spent millions buying up advertising time during NFL Thanksgiving day games to promote his website despite that the fact that the website is still dysfunctional and prone to errors. So when he is criticized for “Thankskilling” this holiday season, perhaps thoughts of the millions of Americans losing their health insurance, having to deal with higher premiums, and inferior health care might be thought of as the basis of that accusation. However, that would be incorrect.

The reason this once popular president is being criticized is for encouraging the killing of turkeys as a meal this holiday season. The charge is made by Steven Patrick Morrissey, the former lead singer for the 1980s UK rock group the Smiths. The 54-year-old singer, known simply as Morrissey by fans, is an avid animal rights activist. On his blog, he accuses the president of encouraging the torture and killing of 45 million turkeys. Morrissey dishes out the rant on his True To You fanzine, under the title “Thankskilling.”Morrissey goes on to describe the method by which masses of turkeys are slaughtered. Truth be told, it is better to read the blog post after consuming the Thanksgiving meal leftovers.
