Anderson Cooper’s Stalker Mentally Competent to Stand Trial

Manhattan, New York – Alex Hausner, age 38, has been receiving psychiatric treatment at the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center for the past two months. The treatment was court-ordered for him as a result of stalking news anchorman Anderson Cooper and his gay partner Benjamin Maisani. Apparently, Hausner has completed the treatment and is considered mentally competent to be tried for the crime of stalking.

Hausner will now face multiple charges of stalking, harassing, and menacing both Cooper and Maisani. The trial will bring to a head a 5-year-long stalking saga that began in 2008 with Hausner claiming to have friendship with Cooper. In Hausner’s mind, the friendship had sexual overtones. While at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, Hausner received treatment for schizophrenia.

As far as the harassment goes, Hausner would phone Cooper at his home, show up at his residence, work place, or follow him and his boyfriend on the street. This past summer, he showed up at Cooper’s residence in a rage. He pounded the door incessantly while hurling expletives at Cooper for his perceived disrespect towards him. For his part, Hausner claimed his feelings for Cooper were too strong to ever bring physical harm to him.
