Kathy Griffin mourns brother after “brutal struggle” with cancer

Don’t expect comedienne and reality star Kathy Griffin to be cracking wise over the next few weeks.

The popular funny lady is in mourning after losing her 53-year old brother, Gary, to cancer. Griffin has used her family connections as the butt of many jokes and stage show commentaries. But she was deadly serious when she posted the announcement of his passing on her official Facebook page to inform fans about her family’s loss.

Griffin praised her brother, Gary Griffin, for being brave and characterized his ongoing fight against cancer as a “brutal struggle.” She said that he had been in palliative care when he died, but that she had been able to enjoy what she called a “real conversation” with her sibling just several days previously. Griffin recalled her final conversation with her brother and reported that despite his pain and suffering, he was still able to be “funny as s**t.”

She revealed some of the details of their final conversation, talking about his love for the 70s rock band “The Eagles”. Kathy Griffi recently was able to secure an autographed picture for Gary from one of his musical idols, Joe Walsh. Funeral details for Griffin are pending.
