Disney is releasing a real life version of its classic “Sleeping Beauty” called “Maleficent”. The new movie, slated to release in May of 2014, is based on the fairy tale from the perspective of the evil fairy, Maleficent. The star of the movie is Angelina Jolie who is famous for her ability to play edgy roles.

In “Maleficent”, Jolie plays the evil fairy Maleficent who curses the young princess Aurora. This movie claims to explain why the princess was cursed and how Maleficent came to fall from the graces of the king and queen. The movie promises to bring new perspective to the older animated fairy tale version of “Sleeping Beauty”, also produced by Disney.

Jolie looks absolutely terrifying in an all black ensemble topped off with dark, pointed horns atop her head. For fans, this will be somewhat of a new role for Jolie, but it seems that she is very apt to fit the role of villain with her eery and dagger-like eyes that haunt viewers just in the movie trailers.

If you are looking for a movie that steps into the dark side of a well known fairy tale, this could be just the movie for you.
