Chilliwack, British Columbia – Jon Orders, a hang-glider pilot, has plead guilty to the negligent death of Mexican native Lenami Godinez-Avila. The beautiful woman put her trust in Orders who it is believed failed to strap her in the glider. She fell 300 feet to her death while conducting a tandem flight with Orders. For his guilty plea, he will both serve a jail term of 5 months followed by probation for 3 years. Another consequence for him is that his application for Canadian citizenship will likely be denied. However, there are compassionate grounds upon which he might still be allowed to remain in the country.

It didn’t help matters that Orders tried to dispose of evidence by swallowing the memory card which recorded the flight. Police were able to recover the evidence. Godinez-Avila was a student in Canada at the time of her death. The failure to strap her in was a monumental lapse in judgment on the part of Orders.

Her once loving father has been devastated by her loss. He explained to the court that with her tragic death, he has become a socially reclusive and depressed. As for Orders, the judge found him to be genuinely sorrow for the incident.
