Batman Saves Cat From House Fire
John Buckland was on the job as a member of Heroes for Higher, costumed as Batman, when he and fellow performer Troy Marcus, outfitted as Captain America, began seeing smoke and flames spew out from a nearby house in West Virginia.
The duo immediately left their speaking engagement at the American Legion post and went into action to see how they could help. Buckland, who has professional training as a firefighter, managed to break down the home’s front door and get some windows open to alleviate the build-up of smoke before spotting what looked like a lump of fur on the ground, which was a cat.
Aided by Captain America, Batman rushed the unconscious kitty outside and into fresh air, where the cat soon revived.
The startled cat gave both of his rescuers a resounding hiss because he was scared and startled.
The costumed heroes discovered that the family who owned the home was out of town and would not have returned in time to prevent their cat and the contents of their house from going up in smoke.
Both Marcus and Buckland downplayed their role as heroes and say they are simply grateful they were in the right place at the right time to prevent a tragedy.
Buckland is the owner of “Heroes 4 Higher,” a company designed to “bring a positive motivational message for the children that may help shape their future.” From the H4H website:

We want to use this platform to bring the heroes to your event or child’s party … The Hero will bring the message for the children to “Be The Hero” to their community. He will reinforce the message of doing good deeds and doing the right thing in their lives as they grow up so as to make our community a better place.
