BBC Apologizes for Gaffe Showing Genitalia on Prince Williams Forehead

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has apologized for what it terms a “gaffe” during their morning program called “BBC Breakfast”.

The program was set to feature the award winning barbershop quartet known as “Babershopera”.

Barbershopera features a three man and one woman quartet which perform comedy musicals. Since their inception in 2004, the group has performed three such musicals. Each of the musicals was performed at the Edinburgh Festival and won awards.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “This image was shown fleetingly within a comedy promotional video for Barbershopera, a humorous barbershop group, who were appearing later on in the programme.

“The material was provided by Barbershopera but we failed to spot the offending material within it. We apologise for this.”

The musicals later had performance runs in London. Against that background, Barbershopera was to appear on the morning program to perform their latest comedy song “I could have married Kate”. “BBC Breakfast” aired a snippet of the music video which briefly showed a photograph of Prince Williams with graffiti marked on his face such as a goatee, devilish mustache, geeky glasses, and the piece de resistance: a penis stemming from his forehead.

It was all in good humor and meant to underscore the humorous lament of the song.

However, “BBC Breakfast” did not take notice of the “penis” and has publicly apologized for the image. The British public is in good spirits following the birth of the royal couple’s first baby.

Some eagle-eyed viewers shared the screengrab image on Twitter.

The Mirror reporter David Yates tweeted: “Dear BBC Breakfast. The trail for ‘Barbershopera’ just showed a cartoon drawing of a penis on Prince William’s head. Please be more careful.”

The group Barbershopera has not issued a statement in regards to the image in their video.
