Billionaire Bill Gates as Secret Santa

In the spirit of Christmas, the social networking site Reddit sponsored a “Secret Santa” event where users were assigned at random to receive a secret yuletide gift. In the case of Rachel, her secret Santa turned out to be none other than billionaire Bill Gates of Microsoft Windows fame.

It took her a while to realize that her Christmas benefactor was one of the wealthiest men in the world. So what did he give her? Well, for starters, he didn’t stick to her wish list. She had requested glittery things, nail polish, or even makeup. What she received was a travel book called “Journeys of a Lifetime”, a stuffed cow, and a donation to the Heifer International non-profit on her behalf. Heifer International seeks to end world poverty and has been in operation since 1944. Ending poverty isn’t a pipe dream as some analysts believe that there is a very real possibility that world poverty will be ended within a generation.

While she wasn’t expecting a stuffed animal, she does actually have a collection and the cow was a nice addition. She didn’t realize her Secret Santa was Bill Gates until she received a Christmas card with his photograph and name on it.
