Blake Lively banned from stage at graduation

Former Gossip Girl start, Blake Lively, recently attended an event hosted by Michelle Obama, on Friday November 8. At the event, she publicly spoke to current high school students about her personal high school experience.

Blake broke out in her first major role, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, at the age of 17. At this age, Blake was still attending public high school in Burbank, California. Due to the the fact that she had a major part in the movie, she accumulated a lot of absences. Lively received more absences than allowed, so she was banned from walking at her high school graduation.

Blake said at the recent event, “They didn’t let me do that (walk at graduation), because they wanted to shut me down.” At the time, Blake also served as the class president.

Obviously, not being able to join her classmates in the traditional graduation doesn’t sit well with the actress.

Blake lively also admitted that she valued education much more than acting. She said, “Acting was the only thing I knew I didn’t want to do. I wanted to get a great education… If I could, I would go back and I would go to college.”
