Cafeteria School Killer Teen Insults Victims with Shirt, Gestures and Statement
T.J. Lane was 17 years old when he shot a .22 caliber pistol 10 times into an Ohio cafeteria and killed two students. Due to his age at the time of the shooting Lane was ineligible for the death penalty. According to the New York Post the shooter went to an alternative school and was to stand trial besides suffering from “hallucinations, psychosis and fantasies.” Lane plead guilty in lieu of trial.
On Tuesday, April 20, 2013 CBS News reports Lane was found guilty and attended a sentencing hearing where he learned of his fate:three life sentences.
An 18 year old convict was prepared for this hearing where victims and others attended. He scrawled the word “killer” on his white t-shirt in black ink. At one point he made an obscene gesture to the back of the courtroom. Later he surprised even his own defense attorney by making a vile outburst to the gallery. The judge later stated he was unaware of the shirt worn by Lane.
