Jet Chevrolet dealership, located in this city of 89,000, promised to raffle off 12 $35,000 cash prizes to the public if the Seattle Seahawks would shut out the NY Giants in New York this past Sunday. The Giants usually field a formidable team and have enjoyed eight straight winning seasons and were playing on their home field. The Giants haven’t been shut out at home in nearly 20 years.

However, the unlikely happened this past Sunday. Seattle beat the Giants 23-0 on their home turf and the loss hands the team their first losing season in nine years. As for Jet Chevrolet, true to their word, anyone who purchased a vehicle on the Saturday prior to the game will be automatically entered in the drawing for one of a 12 $35,000 cash prizes totaling $420,000.

“This is crazy,” Jim Johnson, one of the owners of Jet Chevrolet told ESPN. “We never expected that we’d actually be giving the money away.”

So what are the odds of winning? Pretty good. The dealership sold 100 cars the day before the big game. That gives every buyer almost a 1-in-8 chance of winning. For the lucky patrons, their new car will likely get paid off and they should have some left over for Christmas shopping.
