Caroline Berg Eriksen Shows Off Post-Birth Selfie

Many other mothers facing months of grueling weight loss following the birth of their children didn’t seem to appreciate it when Caroline Berg Eriksen, wife of Norway’s top soccer star, posted a selfie on social media showing her svelte and trim figure just three days after giving birth.

Mts. Lars-Kristian Eriksen posted a photo of herself in shocking pink bra and black panties trimmed in hot pink with the caption, “I feel so empty”, generating plenty of unkind comments from other mothers who felt that Caroline didn’t do other women any favors by showing she was barely affected by any baby weight gain.

One respondent said that Eriksen, who posts a blog about fitness topics, made her feel very fat.

“I feel fat because ‘Soccer Lady’ has given birth,” blogger Suzanne Aabel titled a post.

“WHO ARE YOU POST THIS IMAGE? What do you want to say with this picture? Who are you talking to? What is the good purpose here? Why is this positive?,” she wrote.

Eriksen said that her underwear selfie was largely misunderstood by the other mothers who feel pressured to return to their pre-pregnancy weight as quickly as possible.

She said her motive in showing what she looked like after giving birth was merely to disprove those critics who said that her body would never look the same again. She said the way she looks dispels that notion and she encouraged every woman to be proud of how she looks after experiencing labor.

“During the pregnancy, people kept telling me that my body will never be the same and I wanted to show everybody that’s not entirely true,” she said. “I think all women should be proud of themselves, regardless of how they look after labor.”

Her husband, Lars-Kristian Eriksen, also came to her defence.

In a posting to Facebook translated by Business Insider, he wrote: “Who is it that creates body pressure? The one who posts selfie in lingerie because she is proud of herself, or those discussing (on the Internet) how a woman’s body should look like after birth?”
